Steep rock walls and open fields characterize this stage. Shortly after leaving the wine-growing town of Nittel hikers are rewarded with a breathtaking view over the Mosel Valley and impressive limestone cliffs. This 210 million years ago created the Triassic sea cliff backed by its visible layers of sediment released a piece of Earth's history. Along these rocks the Mosel trail leads through the varied nature reserve Nitteler rocks. On a side trip to the meadow orchids rare plants can be admired in their natural environment. Finally, on steep paths through the woods it goes along by stations of the cross down into the city Konz. With attractions such as the Roscheider Hof Open Air Museum, the city invites to the Saar-mouth a into an enjoyable stopover.
