A stage dominated by the ancient Romans: the starting point is Konz, once not only the gateway to the city of Trier, but also home to the summer residence of the Emperor Valentinian. After the Mosel crossing there is the opportunity to make a detour to the UNESCO World Heritage Igel Column - an ornate Roman tomb which today north of the Alps is with its 23 meters high as the largest Roman pillars grave. On the following distance nature surprises despite its proximity to the Mosel metropolis of Trier with its opulence. Finally, on a short steep part it comes down to the Busental. A feeder path leads to the oldest city in Germany - and its world-famous, well-preserved Roman structures, and UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Porta Nigra. The university town waits for with a lively and extremely likeable old town.
