Perched majestically atop a rocky ledge some 60 metres wide and overlooking Bernkastel stand the Landhut Castle ruins, landmark to this picturesque town. The castle ruin is one of the oldest buildings on the Mosel. It was constructed in the year 1276 and, according to the latest findings, built upon a fort dating back to the 4th or 5th century. The castle can be easily reached on foot, with the Burg Landshut Express or by car.

Arriving at the top, from the castle keep we have a fascinating and unique view over the entire Mosel valley. Today, the castle interior houses a restaurant. Those who wish can climb up to the top of the tower for the price of 1€ and enjoy the panorama.
