Whether you take Cochem's chairlift or climb up on foot over the rocky ridge – at 255 metres above sea level, the visitor literally has the little Mosel town of Cochem at his feet. Up here you have a fine view of the Endert Valley - the castle ruin Winneburg.
The name of this fascinating vantage point goes back to a shepherd who tried to stop his straying flock from plunging over the edge, but instead was killed himself. A cross was erected in his memory atop the Pinneberg.
