On the southern bank of the bridge stands the symbol of the town of Traben-Trarbach, through which the old town of Trarbach is reached. The decorative Bridge Gate was constructed in 1899 after the first Mosel bridge was completed, and was designed by the Berlin architect Bruno Möhring. The walkway between the two towers was built in the style of the old city walls. Although various historical elements are visible, Art Nouveau prevails. The Bridge Gate is however not merely an archway; there are rooms in the interior which are used as a registry office today.
