The former fishing village Zurlauben lies immediately by the Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge, its houses mostly dating back to the 18th century – of these, 17 buildings are cultural monuments. In their day, each house had a garden facing the Mosel. Today, if you stroll along the Zurlauben riverside lined with its pretty little restaurants, bars and beer gardens you can enjoy the lovely view of the Mosel. Furthermore, Trier's landing stages for boats are here, so this is also the starting point for tours and day trips.

Our tip: the Zurlauben Folk Festival (Heimatfest)

which takes place on the second weekend in July, has long been known beyond the borders of Trier. The local restaurants and wine growers invite guests to sample culinary delights. On the fairground there are many rides and amusements for young and old. At several points, bands from the region provide the right atmosphere with their music. The high-spot of the festivities is the firework display “Trier in Flames” on Saturday evening.
