Report an issueThe red brick Collis Tower, built in 1906, stands high above the vineyard slopes of the town of Zell. This had always been a popular excursion destination for hikers, for instead of the tower, there used to be a shelter there which, however, burned down – probably by a fire-starter who hasn't been caught to this day. The construction of the 8 metre high Collis tower was made possible only by donations collected by a local group of Zell parishioners and then conferred to the town as a gift. Today the tower, visible for miles around, with its observation platform offers a magnificent view over Zell and the surrounding Mosel landscape.
Collis circular hiking trail
The approximately two-and-half-hour round-robin hike up to the Collis Tower is particularly good for views. After you have made it up the slope through the vineyards you will be rewarded with a magnificent view over Zell and the Mosel valley.
