Report an issueMarkus Molitor took over his father's wine estate when he was still quite young. In the midst of the Wehlener Klosterberg wine location, he farms vineyards in 15 different locations from Braunberg to Traben-Trarbach, as well as on the wonderful Saar loop.
Various slate soils give the Molitor wines significant variety. Location-typical and distinctive wines are produced here painstakingly by hand. A labour-intensive harvest is crucial for the outstanding quality of the wine, and for this reason, every grape is selected carefully according to its degree of maturity. “Ripeness, not Oechsle” is part of Markus Molitor's philosophy. (Translator's note: Oechsle = measure of sugar concentration in grape juice, and therefore grape ripeness or” must “,common in Germany).
The wines are fermented slowly over a period of months and ripen without the use of enzymes and fining agents to their typical naturalness and locational character.
