Kobern-Gondorf at the Mosel

Historic wine village with many attractions

Kobern-Gondorf stretches over 3 km on the left bank of the Lower Mosel, which not only has four castles, but is also known for its historic buildings and rich cultural and recreational offerings. Each of the lovingly restored buildings, whose medieval building fabric is well preserved, tells its own story. Especially worth seeing are the river fortress Leyen, the neo-Gothic castle Liebig and the famous Matthias Chapel. High above the Mosel, located on a mountain spur, is the late-Hohenstaufen upper castle from the 12th century. But also the market square in Kobern with the Tatzelwurmbrunnen, which symbolizes the meandering Mosel, as well as Germany probably oldest half-timbered house, are worth a visit.
