Leiwen at the Mosel

A strong piece of Mosel on the Roman Wine Route

As a state-recognized resort Leiwen is one of the largest wine-growing communities not only on the Roman Wine Route, but also on the most beautiful Mosel loop between Trier and Bernkastel-Kues. From the Zummethöhe above Leiwen you can enjoy an impressive view of the Trittenheim Mosel Loop. Worthwhile to visit in the wine village itself are the home and wine museum with the Eucharist chapel and the parish church of St. Stephen with an ornate high altar and a pulpit from the so-called "Himmeroder workshop", the Laurentius chapel and the Kurtrierische court. The latter is home to a winery with ostrich management and invites, among many other wineries, to a good sip of Mosel wine.
